We are looking to strengthen our team at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics & Business and announce an opening starting December 1, 2017, for a University Assistant (must hold a Diploma/Master’s degree) for a full-time, six-year position at the Institute of Sociology, Department of Theoretical Sociology and Social Analysis

Job Duties:
Public Sociology: Assistant editor of Global Dialogue, a publication by the International Sociological Association ISA (, from January 2018, edited at the Johannes Kepler University Linz/Austria and at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena/Germany)

 Teach and conduct research in the fields of care, migration, global inequality and/or theories of capitalism, political sociology, feminist theory (international perspectives preferred)
 Complete a doctoral dissertation

Your Qualifications:
 The successful candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Sociology, with focus on at least two of the above mentioned teaching areas and research fields
 Experience writing for publications and/or in journalism
 Willingness to collaborate as part of an international team
 Excellent command of English (native English speaker preferred), German language skills desired but not required. If offered the position, the successful candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn German

The minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement is € 2,731.00 gross per month (CA Job Grade: B1).
