Bob Jessop is Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Co-director of the Cultural Political Economy Research Centre at Lancaster University. He is best known for his contributions to state theory, critical governance studies, critical political economy, the analysis of welfare state restructuring and, most recently, cultural political economy. Two recent books are Cultures of Finance and Crisis Dynamics (co-edited with Brigitte Young and Christoph Scherrer, 2014) and The State: Past, Present, Future (2015).
