As the largest institution of research and education in Upper Austria, the Johannes Kepler University Linz has over 20,000 enrolled students and 3,000 employees. The JKU’s four faculties offer over 60 academic degree programs. We are looking to strengthen our team at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics & Business and announce an opening starting December 1, 2017, for a University Assistant (must hold a Diploma/Master’s degree) for a full-time, six-year position at the Institute of Sociology, Department of Theoretical Sociology and Social Analysis

Job Duties:
Public Sociology: Assistant editor of Global Dialogue, a publication by the International Sociological Association ISA (http://isa-global-dialogue.net/, from January 2018, edited at the Johannes Kepler University Linz/Austria and at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena/Germany)

 Teach and conduct research in the fields of care, migration, global inequality and/or theories of capitalism, political sociology, feminist theory (international perspectives preferred)
 Complete a doctoral dissertation
 

Your Qualifications:
 The successful candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Sociology, with focus on at least two of the above mentioned teaching areas and research fields
 Experience writing for publications and/or in journalism
 Willingness to collaborate as part of an international team
 Excellent command of English (native English speaker preferred), German language skills desired but not required. If offered the position, the successful candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn German
 

The minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement is € 2,731.00 gross per month (CA Job Grade: B1).
